Diamond Quartz

A double-terminated crystal formation, known as Diamond Quartz or Herkimer Diamond (if mined in Herkimer County, NY), grows in a diamond-like geometrical shape with 18 crystal faces. Rare varieties of Diamond Quartz crystals have trace amounts of hydrocarbon liquid and gas (petroleum) inclusions, which makes them glow (fluoresce) bright yellow when exposed to UV light.
